On Saturday, October 14, there will be a Harvest Festival in town. But there will also be an important fine arts event to celebrate one of Ocean Grove’s great artists— Jack Bredin.
Jack has been featuring scenes of Ocean Grove and surrounding areas for many years and his work was shown in an Asbury gallery.
But now Jack is thrilled to announce a new venue to show his work: The Tumblety-Howell Gallery at 45 Pilgrim Pathway in Ocean Grove. We spoke to Terry Howell at the gallery, and he is calling the exhibit “Jack is Back.” And he is excited to display Jack’s wonderful oils. After all, what could be better to help decorate an OG home?
Jack’s paintings are treasures and sell regularly, so don’t miss the chance to buy a Bredin.
The show will take place on Saturday from 10 am-4 pm, but those who are interested in Jack’s work will be able to view and purchase his paintings there in the future.
Grovers: Stop by and say hello to Jack.
FATS WALLER: Jack. “We Simply Adore You”
This is one of my favorite compositions of Jack’s paintings. I too have this print hanging in my office in Florida. Jack is a composer who takes the images wherever it leads him. That is an artist!
Jack tells us that this painting represents his neighborhood block in Ocean Grove. The second home from the left belongs to him and Jean. Jean is depicted in front of that home, and a neighbor is crossing the street. He also included their cat as well as two bluebirds in the tree. Jack’s works are fanciful. I have never seen a bluebird in the Grove, and he sometimes changes details, colors, etc.
In any case, his paintings are wonderful and are much more complicated than they may seem. He does very meticulous and detailed preparations for the final work on canvas, often using photographs to help with his compositions.
Love Jack’s painting of “The Neighborhood”. We have a signed print of this fine work in our NC home. It reminds us the wonderful times we enjoy in Ocean Grove. Looking forward to spending our 33rd summer in Ocean Grove.
