They were playing the theme from “True Blood.” My camera was invaded by nefarious spirits as you can see from this photo.

On the porch. Strangely, the witch on the left looks like Jean Bredin. Can you tell which witch is which?

They flew low into town on their brooms from all directions, bypassing flight delays in Newark, slipping into the Grove for their annual conclave to be held at the home of Joyce and Michael Adase on Saturday night. You may have noticed a slight rumbling as they arrived, softly shaking the roofs in town.
A witch from Salem, Mass. hugged her colleagues from Transylvania. “Long time no see. Can I bite your neck?” asked one who was being a bit frisky.
These witches have been here before. Blogfinger was again invited to photograph the assemblage which consisted of witches in black and a few warlocks to add a bit of variety to the occasion.
It was dark out when I arrived, and the festivities had already begun. The witches were beautiful, and that is an intentional ploy to lure men into their traps. We couldn’t tell which witches were good witches and which witches were bad. There was food, drink, laughter, witch jokes, and even dancing.
The witches were friendly, and I could photograph them without a diabolical spell or incantation being cast in my direction. Clearly this was a night out for these ladies in black, and they were having a wonderful time. No witch-hunts had occurred in Ocean Grove for 500 years, so they could relax tonight. Here are some images from this unusual event.

This is Izzy the witch who came with a creature on her head. She’s a happy witch. She goes to witches school and hasn’t yet earned the big hat. She is majoring is spelling.

This fun-witch brought her civilian boyfriend . I asked him, “Are you a man or a mouse?” He wasn’t sure. Later she might bewitch him, and he is hopeful.
