Hello. Thanks for your continued observations and reporting in Ocean Grove.
While there are quite a few pressing issues in our town at present, the one that concerns me most is getting very little attention. The trash bins that are currently used at our beaches are not large enough for the crowds that visit on summer days and do not keep the beaches clean of visitor waste (like food and plastics).
I am attaching early morning photos of both an OG beach and an Asbury beach on Labor Day weekend.
Note the difference in size and style (the Asbury cans have tops that don’t topple) and notice the difference in waste on the ground. The Asbury cans had not yet been emptied but were inaccessible to the gulls. The OG cans are spilling over and being picked over, while wind starts to take trash to the ocean.
Let’s find an avenue to lobby for better trash management on our beaches.
