Those of us who want to live in a town where “we-the-people” are treated with respect may wonder why they bought or rent in Ocean Grove. To see proper representative government in action, just look at our neighbors—any one of them, including Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Belmar and others. They do what’s best for their citizens.
But when we, the sponsors of the Blogfinger Town-Wide Yard Sale asked the Camp Meeting to announce our event on their electric sign, they refused. They also refused to include our town sale as an event in their “Ocean Grove Summer Program Guide.”
They pretend that the name “Ocean Grove” is a synonym for the CMA when actually that name belongs to all of us who live here.
A former President of the CMA told me that all they care about is their “mission” and that they would have no interest in the rest of us. Yet somehow they do become interested in us at times such as when they threatened to sue the Township for even breathing the words “parking permits for residents.”
Just look around, see what goes on here in the Grove, or what doesn’t go on here, and you may understand that we are much different than the rest of the Jersey Shore and even the rest of America.
This has nothing to do with their religion. We are huge supporters of freedom of religion–but this is about how one faction of our town tries to overwhelm the rest of us, and the central flaw of what they do is that they are not elected officials and thus should not be entitled to run roughshod over the rest of us.
All we ask, at Blogfinger, is that you keep an eye on how our life-styles are affected by this group. (and also don’t leave out the Neptuners who care little about us except as a “cash cow.”) Just look at the North End plan.
