At Blogfinger we are not doing much OG history these days, but for those who are new to the town, we hope to give perspective by reminders of the more recent past.
If any of you want to submit photos from the Grovarian past, please send to Blogfinger@verizon.net.
The idea of celebrating a wedding in the boardwalk pavilion was nothing new until 2007 when the CMA refused to allow a civil ceremony there between two OG lesbians. The CMA was found guilty of discrimination, and that ended all weddings at that location.
The two women went out onto the pier where they had their ceremony. That disagreement had nothing to do with the issue of gay marriage.
We subsequently attended a wedding of a Grover couple out on the fishing pier, and it was lovely. I believe that weddings of heterosexual couples still occur on occasion at Thornley Chapel.
And once in awhile there will be a wedding photo shoot on our beach, but no weddings that I know about.
