This duet is by two of the great female jazz stars: Mary Lou Williams and Marian McPartland. They performed together on McPartland’s NPR series called “Piano Jazz.” The music was preserved by the Smithsonian, and the song is “I Can’t Get Started.”
Ira Gershwin (lyrics) and Vernon Duke (music) wrote the song.
“You’re so supreme, lyrics I write of you
Scheme, just for a sight of you
Dream, both day and night of you
And what good does it do?”
Scheme, just for a sight of you
Dream, both day and night of you
And what good does it do?”
