Blogfinger: I think that these rules are incorporated into Neptune’s ordinances. As you all may have seen, we now have a rash of motorized bicycles, scooters (like Vespas) and skateboards around town. They are becoming very hip here and in A. Park, and, in theory, will be good in getting around a small town like ours.
But keep off the boardwalk at any hour or any time year round.
Some scooter owners are already using them to save parking spaces. I guess that’s legal. It’s another “games people play” during the parking wars in the Grove.
I spoke to the Neptune PD’s officer in charge of traffic related issues. His name is Sgt. James Macconchie. Neptune PD will be “proactive” in enforcing all sorts of traffic and parking rules in the Grove. As you all know, during the busy season here, people become crazed while looking for parking. We wrote about the “Parking Derangement Syndrome” as first described by the Blogfinger Off-shore School of Medicine, Paul Goldfinger MD, Dean.
Sgrt. Macconchie said that there are “specials” (special police) who will be patrolling in town along with the regular NTPD. If you want to speak to him yourself, he invites you to call him at the NTPD special number 732 988 8000 ext. 433.
If you spot any parking or traffic violations, call the police number 988 8000 and hit “zero.”
As for parking, it’s every man/woman for himherself (from the pronoun wars.)
We have suggested a resistance protest movement on behalf of the residents of OG. Let’s all get orange cones (they are not illegal) and use them to save our spaces.
The Better Parking Alliance has come up with a plan: We all should contact the Fabulous Five at Town Hall and complain. The BPA must be desperate if this is the best result of all their efforts.

Editor’s note; Here is a BF link about skateboards in town:
An exception to the motorized ban: Electric wheel chairs are permitted all year including 3 am to 10 am.
