Music from “The Life of Brian” by Monty Python: There is one four-letter word here, so we’ll rate it PG 13, but the music is so much fun that we will overlook that issue. Anyhow, we could have used a five letter word and received an R rating, but, on Blogfinger, we do not go all the way, and the letter X is not found on our keyboards. —PG
MONTY PYTHON.
Talented group of performers. Such a catchy tune! Python had a few more. The Lumberjack Song comes to mind … Then again they did have a B’way Hit Show.
Very funny song. The central character of the movie “Life of Brian” is this poor slob who lives next door to Jesus Christ and ends up being mistaken for the Messiah. In the movie’s final scene, Brian is hanging on a cross suffering along with a bunch of others being crucified by the Romans, and the guy on the cross next to him starts singing this song to cheer him up. Pretty soon the camera pans back to show the whole host of crosses, everyone cheerfully singing and whistling.
There used to be a “morning zoo” type of comedy talk show on the radio in Philly that used this recording as its theme song. It dubbed out that one dirty word.
