TO THE EDITOR:
Dear Blogfinger –
Despite your best efforts, you have not YET solved OG’s parking problems, but maybe with your help and that of your readers, we can solve one of OG’s other problems – cars speeding down Main Avenue.
Too often we see near accidents involving cars on Main Ave, and pedestrians or bicyclists approaching from cross streets. This is a danger to OG residents and visitors. The intersection of Main Ave and Central is particularly bad because there are almost no stop signs on Central and bikers/walkers cross into that intersection expecting traffic to stop for them. I’ve heard similar complaints at Main and Delaware (which also has few stop signs).
We are starting a petition to request that Neptune protect our residents and visitors and install some stop signs on Main. We hope others will support us. Maybe you could poll your audience.
Thank you
Sean Mack

From the Editor: Sean—–you forgot to mention the terrible risk when a car wants to pull out of a side street onto Main. (such as the north corner of New Jersey Avenue at the park, when a New Jersey Avenue car heading south can’t see, looking left, past cars diagonally parked on Main near the intersection. )
There are parking regulations designed to permit safe movement into such an intersection, but no enforcement makes many of such corners very dangerous.
How can residents read and sign your petition.? Send me your petition for posting. (see addendum below)
As for a BF poll, what should the question be?

MADELEINE PEYROUX:
ADDENDUM: Sean decided to proceed with his petition after seeing a family on bikes almost get wiped out coming from Central to Main. He will be collecting signatures with a clipboard this weekend at OG Hardware or Victorian Grill.
If you collect real signatures from neighbors you can drop them off at 30 Main Avenue. Or you can offer to help Sean collect signatures. Or tell us at Blogfinger@verizon.net and we will forward to Sean.
This is what it says:
PETITION TO NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP
ATTN: ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT – TRAFFIC CALMING TASK FORCE
The undersigned are residents of Ocean Grove. Cars speeding down Main Avenue are increasingly placing residents and visitors in danger. Pedestrians, bicyclists and cars crossing onto Main are regularly almost hit by speeding cars. It is a tragedy waiting to happen. We request that stop signs be placed on Main Avenue, at least at the intersection of Main Avenue and Central Avenue and at the intersection of Main Avenue and Delaware Avenue.

During the last week, people parading past my house, going to the beach were devoid of masks.
Does common sense no longer exist? The Township could deal with this by having a car with a megaphone alerting people to socially distance and wear their mask.
I guess bravado is more important than death or prolonged sickness, or killing off their parents or grandparents.
Sean Mack,
Your petition is a great way to rally the troops. My name will be on it.
But the Township Committee can and will, toss it into the dumpster, as they created the problem.
When the Committee reopens their meeting to the public, you and other concerned citizens MUST appear in person to get your important safety issues “On the Record”.
New sign facing west today on Broadway..25mph. Average east bound driver is going 50 E on Broadway. Today a cop appears and is putting up a warning( shows how fast you’re going) on opposite side of sign facing west.
I told him speeders are going east not west..big hurry to get to beach..not to go home..he disagrees and says he’ ll post facing west and try it.
I comment that cross street is so dangerous..no one stops..bikers, walkers, and dogs always in peril..he comments that folks have complained because I park in front of my home.
