Last year, the Sea.Hear.Now Festival held each September brought in 35,000 people to Asbury Park. This year it is scheduled for Sept. 19 and 20, 2020, and they are already sold out. Pearl Jam is the headliner.
So we not only have to deal with mega events in the Grove, but then there is the A. Park megalo-crazy need to bring in thousands of tourists to our backyard. Change their name to “Asbury Can’t Park.”
And, of course, whenever there are such events there are worsening parking problems and crowding in the Grove. And will the epidemic be over by then? Every rentable space in OG will be rented. Every available parking space will be taken. It’s bad enough we have our own home-grown mega events.
It is essential that those of us who live in town and pay taxes be protected, and that should include permit parking at least in season. Why allow the Camp Meeting Association, The Chamber of Commercials, and the Neptune Comedy to define our town?
The Mayor of Belmar has once again placed his citizens at the top of his priority list, reserving certain streets in his town for resident parking this season.
But the music is good…….In the video above, the background group is the Dave Matthews Band with ” Do You Remember”
