The Qoaster features a segment where they do “man on the street” interviews on a particular topic. This time they asked, “What do you think about the banning of plastics?”
I think the Qoastericans mean plastic bags. In any case, one quote caught my eye. It is by Don Brockel of Ocean.
Don says, “I’m Chairman of the Deal Lake Commission. We clean the Lake numerous times of the year and we find hundreds if not thousands of plastic bags and bottles. They literally cover the bottom of the lake in some sections. So I’m all for the ban.”
We wonder what Don means by “clean the Lake.” How does he assess the situation at the bottom of the Lake?
Is he claiming to retrieve plastic from the bottom of Deal Lake? Is there some kind of magic being used at Deal Lake?
Whenever we have observed a cleanup of Wesley Lake, it is just a very superficial effort.
At the last meeting of the Wesley Lake Commission, the Friends of Wesley/Citizens of Wesley Lake were on the agenda, but they didn’t show. I guess the Wesley Detention/Retention Basin has no friends.
