a. The Township is considering taking down all the Bradford Pear trees on Main Avenue. Why? Our little bird source didn’t say.
b. The owner of the Pavilion Building believes that he can rebuild if he gets enough insurance money. But he may find some challenges in trying to rebuild on a lot where there has been no approval from the State DEP to rebuild on that riparian lot.
c. Blogfinger secret dossier is revealed:
d. Send us your favorite rumors. It’s a custom in small-town America.
FARAH ALVIN: From the Marvelous Wonderettes
Jane: We had Bradford pear trees lining our driveway for 16 years in Chester, NJ. They never created any problems & looked beautiful in all seasons.
However, they need to be pruned every few years to keep them tidy & allow the air to pass through the inner branches. Eileen
I looked up Bradford Pear Trees, and Miss Daisy’s first sentence is apparently quite true. They are an environmental hazard and a physical hazard. They were imported because they are cheap and fast-growing, but not really a good choice for town streets. They should go! Check out this web page for more info:

Bradford pears are non-native, invasive, and unstable. They have a bad tendency to fall over on cars. My town was really unhappy when the NC DOT took down all the ones growing along the highway several years ago, but there are good reasons for getting rid of the ones that exist and not planting any more. Plus, those pretty flowers smell awful.
Idiocracy is a movie comedy that takes place in the future where the dumb-ing down of America has been taken to epic levels. Definitely not a 4 star Academy Award winner— just a silly romp. The title has become part of my lexicon and covers a lot of stupidity and total lack of common sense in government.
Rumor is that police and fire officials (who did such a great job investigating the Warrington fire) are going to attribute Dunes fire to homeless squatters.
If you buy this, the Easter Bunny will bring you treats in a few days and Santa Claus will reward all you good boys and girls on 12/25.
OGrover: This was mentioned by the Township Business Administrator Vito Gadaleta at the last Committee meeting. He said that the trees were messy, and they are, but nothing definite has been decided. But since he mentioned it, we have to assume that they are considering that.
Personally, the pears are worth the trouble. They used to line my driveway when we lived in Morris County. But anyone who plants one of these in their grassy strip is asking for major trouble. –Paul @Blogfinger.net
Replace the pear trees? With what? Nothing? Saplings (of what) that take decades to grow?
It’s a magical time when they’re in full bloom! Then we have a few days of Spring “snow” when they drop the petals. Idiocracy ain’t just a movie, is it.
Editor’s note: Ogrover—-I love to learn new words, but it’s good you wrote to Blogfinger, because “idiocracy” would not get past the NY Times fact checkers. And speaking of fact checkers, ours says that seasons of the year are not capitalized, so I need to fix your “Spring snow.” But if you were writing about the Olympics and said Winter Games, you would be correct.
And as for April snow, here is an item from Blogfinger which considers that:
