We have learned from a reliable source that two Main Ave. businesses have closed including the Perfume shop (previously reported) and the yoga studio. Both were in the new building, #50 Main Avenue.
The Comfort Zone remains in that new building as well as in their old site near Central Avenue.
And a new shop will open which is a surprise: a knitting store that will offer classes. Probably will be for the crochet crowd as well. Await more details.
Also closed: the Surf Shop (where the newsstand/toy store used to be.)
But the big scoop for today is a dream come true. Someone is going to open a coffee shop in the new building. We have no details, but hopefully it will be the “real deal.”
Ocean Grove really needs a true coffee shop where folks can socialize and enjoy fine coffee drinks. The Barbaric Bean next door at #48 Main Avenue was destroyed in the fire—-smoke damage, and it never reopened.
As with the NY Times, Blogfinger does accept anonymous sources, so if you have any details on this, please send an email to blogfinger@verizon.net.
And, a person could fall in love at a coffee shop:
LANDON PIGG: (singer, songwriter; single) “Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop.”
I hope that your anonymous source is less reliable than mine who said that it will happen.
OG Surf & Skate has unfortunately closed as well.
I heard this afternoon from a neighboring store owner that the coffee shop is not a ‘definite’ yet.
I heard that a yarn store will be opening. They will sell yarn and also give knitting lessons. The owner is our neighbor and lives in Ocean Grove.
