We like to think of Ocean Grove as the perfect Victorian town, restored from a messy situation in the ’90’s. But, like Asbury Park, we have the good, the bad and the ugly. Investors like to find the run down properties, restore them, usually on the cheap, and then flip. But flipping houses isn’t exactly the best scenario for the Grove’s Historic District.
But we are interested in all things Grovarian, so we will take a look at the “other side” as we did in A. Park. However, to offer perspective, our neighborhoods are much more attractive than they were 20 years ago thanks largely to new homeowners who bought into the historic restoration ideal.
However now, with all the condos, HOA failures, HPC disappointments, Neptune political land use bull, zoning mishaps, and second homers with their eyes on the hipster side of the Lake, we wonder how our town will fair as we move into the roaring ’20’s.
