From the Blogfinger Editorial Board:
At the next Township Committee meeting on February 12, 2018, the agenda shows the following items:
–“Authorize the closing of streets and temporary no parking in connection with the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce arts & crafts festivals.”
–“Authorize the closing of streets and temporary no parking in connection with the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce vintage auto displays.”
-“Authorize the closing of streets and temporary no parking in connection with the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce flea markets.”
–“Authorize the temporary closure of a portion of Ocean Avenue in connection with two 5 km runs”
So this begs the questions:
When did Ocean Grove residents get to authorize these street closures which will impact their lives with gridlock at various times through the “season?”
Why do private groups like the Chamber, developers like WAVE, unelected Neptune bureaucrats like Bernie Haney, and the CMA get to define what our town should be? The citizens should do that!
What do we truly want to be? Do we want to be weiners forever?
Ya know what I’m saying?
“The Weiner song:”

Don’t be a weiner.
Yes Joe, but no citizen can get permission to shut down multiple streets downtown and on the Pathway as the CC and CMA are able to do.
Block parties usually take up one block and don’t congest the entire town with tourists.
In fact, block parties are wonderful community events geared to the people of the Grove, unlike the kinds of happenings illustrated in this post and approved by the Neptuners who themselves are not inconvenienced by throngs of visitors and hundreds or thousands of cars.
I bet they don’t have such events in the hills of Shark River or down by their marina.
We are the most beautiful place to live in Neptune, but they treat us as if nobody actually lives in the Grove, so they can turn it into Seaside Heights whenever they feel like it. —Paul @Blogfinger
Any resident can apply for a block party permit. It’s on the Clerk’s webpage.
They are clearly laughing all the way to the bank with all the zoning scams they are pulling against the people of OG.
Just like having a big block party in a small town.
