An Ocean Grover, Harriet Bernstein, is organizing “a Valentine’s Day rally” in front of our Congressman’s office. In an email to a large list of people, she says:
“On February 14th, as part of an ongoing effort to communicate their concerns to Congressman Chris Smith, his constituents here in the 4th congressional district will hold a special Valentine’s Day rally outside his Freehold office.
“We invite you to join us, along with anyone else you think might be interested in attending.
“WHAT: A rally for love of country and democracy – with songs, speakers, Valentine cards to fill with heartfelt messages and requests for action, and more…
“DATE: Wednesday, February 14, 2018; TIME: 4:00 to 5:00; LOCATION: 112 Village Center Dr, Raintree Shopping Center, Freehold, NJ 07728
“PLUS: Show the world where your heart is! Wear red. Bring signs supporting the groups or issues that touch you. Bring a friend!
Editor’s note: Ms. Bernstein says that this rally is “part of an ongoing effort to communicate [our] concerns” to our Congressman. Does anyone know what “ongoing effort” she is referring to?
Does anyone believe that this is about “love of country and democracy?” And since when is Valentine’s day a holiday to celebrate kvetching?
Whatever it is, it sounds like “Seinfeld,” a show about nothing; and Seinfeld was a comedy.
ZERO MOSTEL from “Funny thing Happened on the Way to the (Freehold) Forum:
Believe the “ongoing effort” Ms. Bernstein references includes the phone calls and letters sent to our Congressman , including Chris Smith, to let them know the views and issues of concern of their constituents.
Unlike Frank Pallone, who made an effort to talk with the public when he represented our district, how often has anyone seen or heard from Chris Smith? I can only recall one time he came to OG.
Personally, the letters, phone calls, and visits to Smith’s Freehold office (all of which I’ve done) have enabled me to communicate issues that are important to me, and I’ve found his office staff to be very helpful.
