This meeting will be at the Michael Lake Performing Arts Center at 6 pm. This venue is at the Neptune High School, 50 Neptune Blvd.
But this idea seems hopeless. It has been raised in the past and rejected every time. A committeeman, Carol Rizzo, will present the plan, but this is something that should be presented by a specialist—an engineer, preferably the one who studied the problem and signed off on the proposal. No agenda has been posted, so we don’t know if any parking experts will be present.
This plan is old hat. It is just a rehashed version of what was rejected in the past. The Committee will listen, as if they are outsiders. They can take that position because the plan belongs to the Home Groaners. I bet that none of the Committee understands the details but Carol Rizzo and none would be capable of discussing the issues. It’s not even a final plan–it is a proposal to take it for a test drive for awhile.
The Committee members will have the opportunity first to question Ms. Rizzo. You will hear their input and decide for yourself if they have any real commitment to solving the problem.
Then the public will be allowed to ask questions. Each of you will get 5 minutes, but not all of you will get to speak. Figure it out: if each questioner gets 5 minutes to speak, then let’s consider the time spent on each person to be 10 minutes (brief question and brief answer). So , if 20 people get to speak, that would be 200 minutes, ie. over 3 hours.
Nobody will want to sit there for more than one or 2 hours, so what is the point of gathering a crowd.? You will not be able to vote. Delegates would have been better, but the public must be heard. At the last dopey meeting, it had to be cancelled because there were too many people to seat, much less to allow to talk.
The plan itself is deeply flawed, and only a real expert could possibly find a way to make permit parking a reality in Ocean Grove as it is in many towns and cities across the country.
On Blogfinger we have said that only a half measure could work where there would be some permit spaces, but not enough for all those that have been mentioned by the Groaners; the town is just too small and with too many cars. Parking is just subterfuge to avoid discussing the real problems in the Grove.
The whole OG master plan needs to be revisited to turn OG into a small single family, historic town with less giant tourist attractions, and that includes stopping all zoning abuses and banning the Chamber of Commerce and the current version of the Groaners.
And there are many who oppose the plan, often by people who don’t even understand it, including the CMA leaders. And, to give you an example of a hopelessly misinformed opposition, some Neptuners say that no money should be spent on a permit plan in the Grove unless Neptuners get permits also. Maybe they will show up at the meeting, if they can find a place to park.
We predict that of those who go to the mic, many, perhaps half or more, will be in opposition. Then the Committee can say, “Well, it’s clear that many are opposed, so we reject the idea. ”
I plan to stay home. If any citizen reporters go, please email a report.
SINATRA AT THE SANDS:
PG – We await your assessment– the only true, honest, and factual one we will receive……… kind of like Bill O’Reilly………. “The No Spin Zone.”
Thanks.
It is the right era to consider sovereignty of Neptune and its charg, Ocean Grove. Parking land is both a natural resource – land- and a cultural resource -history-, and Neptune’s place in it.
Sounding out, as I say that I will, Neptune Township cannot abdicate its economic, historical, and property interests to permit Asbury Park to dominate our land and history and economic demands.
This is much more than parking, convenience and practicality – it is in the nature of the Township and what it is seeking to protect.
As a special place, preservation of the community is foremost.
At glance, it can seem Ocean Grove is just a hodge-podge of invading forces. But to residents, like me, it is a sacred community, of history, community.
The Neptune Council has a role in preservation of Neptune, and Ocean Grove, working together to make sure we are not an ASBURY SUBURB.
So please, rule and enforce parking restrictions as a step to preserving Neptune real estate sovereignty, to prevent us from being an Asbury parking lot.
Carol Rizzo should resign from the HOA. She has a conflict of interest. She can go to their meetings, as do many politicians, but none of them are members of the HOA.
Isn’t Ms. Rizzo one of the members of the OGHOA who has denied the right of the public to see the report of the attorney that the OGHOA hired to look into ground leases? Is Ms. Rizzo withholding this report from the public so that the Township can continue to use invalid and illegal zoning against the residents of OG. Isn’t this the same Ms. Rizzo that misrepresented the purpose of RSIS at the OGHOA and the same Ms. Rizzo who continues as a Township Committee person to refuse to bring OG’s zoning into conformity with law by withholding RSIS standards from the zoning for OG?
Why isn’t the Township Planner submitting this zoning issue instead of someone who has no credentials as to zoning or parking? Will there be a parking study provided by the planner or will the planner never show at these meetings because the Township knows that the zoning for OG is in violation of law, in contempt of a court order and in violation of Federal ADA law?
