Blogfinger receives visitors from about 160 foreign countries. One day we heard from two visitors from Madagascar. I imagined them sitting on the beach wondering about Ocean Grove. So here is another brilliant cartoon by Sue—an Ocean Grove treasure. She is an author, and an artist, and a doer of good deeds. Sue has done some other cartoons for us in the past which we sometimes re-post.
Its a very cute cartoon! However I doubt the young men in the picture would be pondering that. The majority of acts chosen to perform at the Auditorium attract the 60 yrs-and-up-crowd. As ticket buyers retire, move out of state, or pass away, their base audience is one that continuously dwindles. I’m a 40-something myself. Last show I went to there was 6 years ago. I hope the OGCMA changes things, but I’m not holding my breath.
The OGCMA is constantly struggling to increase income. OhGee’s comment is quite accurate. Next summer they will reduce the number of big secular shows in the GA. What they will do to improve their financial position with entertainment remains to be seen.
