The Make-a-Wish Foundation of New Jersey recently built their new headquarters in Monroe Township. Our “name that town and place” contest winner is Heidi Fleischer (see comments below) who will receive a prize from Seasons General Store on Main Avenue in Ocean Grove, NJ.

BILLY JOEL:
Make-A-Wish Foundation is centered around the wishes and dreams of children. Children do not dream of visiting a dreary castle in England. They dream of a magical Disney type of life where they are not forced to deal with circumstances that most adults only realize in nightmares. I would rather see 100 buildings like this as opposed to another Wawa on every corner.
No offense to others with different sensibilities (or to Make A Wish — whose purpose is noble), but I think it looks totally out of place and is garish. A more traditional castle (meaning a look you’d see in England, not Disneyland) look is definitely possible if that was their thematic. I doubt Princeton would flex their zoning to allow something this bizarre to be built and neither should have Monroe.
It’s a place i drive past sometimes on Perrineville Road in Monroe Township off Route 33, but most people would never want to HAVE to go there, it’s the Make A Wish Foundation.
