My wife and I were entertaining her second cousin from Stockholm whom she has not seen in over 40 years. After a crazy Friday night in New York dodging tourists and viewing the tree in Rockefeller Center we came to Ocean Grove to show Gustav our town and attend the “Live Nativity”, which we all enjoyed.
Afterwards, we were ready for a warm drink with a kick, so we headed across the bridge to Asbury and found “Talula’s” a relatively new place at 550 Cookman Avenue, a few doors up from Brickwall Tavern. Much to our delight, we met the owners, OG residents by way of Brooklyn and California who had made traditional Scandinavian “Glogg”, a mixture of wine, vodka, brandy and spices, served hot, and sure to warm anyone up, rosy cheeks and all.
We already had dinner so did not eat, but the breads, salads, bowls, pizza looked great in a relaxed atmosphere. We will be back to sample the menu and will report back!

Once you get over the menu’s sticker shock, they have tasty, unique pizzas. Their most popular large pies run $30 each for dinner. For lunch, the same pies are a dollar or two less. If you are not in the mood for pizza, lunchtime menu offers a few lesser expensive salads and sandwiches. Enjoyed my visit, but can’t bring myself to pay that kind of money for a pizza pie again.
