I received an email from a reader who asked how we choose our wide variety of music. This is my response to her:
“Thanks for that email. I appreciate it. Tell H. that I have been exposed to a wide variety of music since I was a child. As far as matching the songs to the photos,it is an imprecise process. I try to find music that fits with the image in terms of mood, lyrics or just plain instinct.
“My iTunes contains thousands of songs, but I’m always looking for new music as well as nostalgic music, too.
“I especially enjoy it when someone hears a song that they haven’t heard for many years, and it just rushes back to them as if it were yesterday.” (There are discoverable brain pathways to explain such phenomena. Just ask neurologist Oliver Sacks–his book is “Musicophilia.” ——Paul @Blogfinger
