Mr Blogfinger: Last Friday I was walking along the lake checking out the new walkway, It looks great. I was walking pass the Warrington saw that someone cut down part of the porch railing and just threw it on the ground. NOTHING WAS APPROVED TO BE DONE TO THAT BUILDING. Nobody is to be in that building.
I have to say also between the Park View and the Warrington it’s a big mess over there. The resident nearby is fearing a fire. He said he has all his important papers ready to run. I felt bad for him. He is 88 years old.
At least calling for a limited “boycott” of promoting other facilities of the negligent Park View Inn owner, will garner public/media attention (in all due respect to Blogfinger).
To OGrover, I was at meetings about the Warrington; many residents are going to the July 2nd meeting. The residents will get THEIR chance to speak, and yes they plan on making it a 21 room hotel right next to the boarded up Parkview. SEEING IS BELIEVING.
Who would put that kind of money in that building anyway and looking at the Parkview? Besides, will he run it the way he ran the boarding house with 47 health violations? And what about the drugs that were trafficked from that building?
I have to agree that the Park View Inn is a disgrace and a fire hazard and action needs to be taken. But I would be reluctant to ever advocate a boycott of the Ocean View Inn and the Ocean Plaza. As an out of towner who has twice needed to book entire hotels for weddings in Ocean Grove and Asbury Park, I can tell you that there are few hotels in Ocean Grove that can compare to these two.
They are beautiful, reasonably priced, and do a wonderful job of promoting Ocean Grove year round. Did you ever try to book a number of rooms in Ocean Grove from September to May? Even if the reservation is requested for the summer, you are lucky if a phone call is returned.
Did you ever try to book a single room for the 4th of July weekend? Minus another 40 or so rooms and there would be a lot of big spenders who would end up at the Berkley spending their money in Asbury Park. To be honest, Ocean Grove may need these hotels more than they need their ads to run in the Chamber of Commerce pamphlets.
OK, let’s strategize with an Ocean Grover’s critical word: “boycott.”
If a motion were to be made at the next meeting of the OG Homeowners Association requesting the Camp Meeting Association not accept future ads that include the Park View and other properties of this negligent owner–and if a similar request in that motion was made to the Chamber of Commerce not to distribute information about his money-making properties on Ocean Pathway–is there anyone out there who would second the motion……and vote for it?
Look on page 38 of the current Ocean Grove 2014 events booklet. There you will find an advertisement for The Ocean Plaza, The Ocean View Inn AND The Parkview Inn. All three inns owned by the same person I assume. Think about this the next time you send business their way.
I personally would boycott those two other inns until something is done about this fire hazard that is the Park View Inn. Interesting to note also, that the Warrington Hotel plans on opening behind the Parkview Inn. I went to a meeting where the owner of the Warington had plans on how the new Warrington will look in the future! Really!!!
After years of legal fees and fines which finally led to a plea agreement with a $35,000.00 settlement, the owner avoided it all through a bankruptcy. Now a bankruptcy judge is in charge. Neptune Township is just another creditor in a long line.
Any suggestions to positively improve the situation would be interesting; all legal efforts to date have failed.
It’s been covered many times on this blog that the owner(s) have two other properties in town, The Ocean View and The Ocean Plaza. They also owned The Sampler. The fines have piled up, only to be reduced or waived for years. The volume of legal paperwork alone must rival War and Peace, large print edition.
Much has been said about 80 Main Street, but what about this eyesore, the Parkview, that every tax paying resident on Seaview Avenue has to look at a on a daily basis? For years we have watched this wonderful historic building decay. When are our local politicians going to stand up and severely penalize the owner for letting this property deteriorate and become a fire hazard?
If I am incensed about this property I feel I have a right to be. Ocean Grove is a wonderful historic community that prides itself on beautiful Victorian homes and inns. Shame on the powers that be that would let this once beautiful inn remain in such a state of disrepair.

To I.M.Radar You make the motion at the next OGHOA meeting (Jun 28) and I’ll second it.
So what is the better answer Dreamer?

Nigel, it’s Main AVENUE, not Street
