HINT for the “name that town” contest: This New Jersey town’s name was inspired by a body part. And, like the girl in the song, the town is in the north country.
Editor’s note: Mindy Shapiro wins the contest. This scene is at Delicious Orchards on Rt. 34 south in Colts Neck. In addition to their amazing market, it is a working farm. Late this afternoon, as the sun sent glowing light through these trees, with the rays colliding with the red autumn leaves and casting long shadows, a lone farmer was turning over rows of earth with a tractor.
Inside they were taking orders for Bell and Evans fresh turkeys at $3.29 per pound. Organic birds were over $5.00 per pound. People line up for their pies, and the bakery had enough whipped cream on display to make 1000 charlotte russes.

As the saying goes, thanks for the memories. I remember discovering DO’s cream puffs and finding them to be the best. Alas, those indulgent days are over for this “trying to stick to a heart-healthy lifestyle” gal. Kinda glad the bakeries in OG and nearby towns have nothing like these creamy confections.
Is it Colts Neck?

Congratulations Mindy. You are the first to get the answer. Rich Lepore, the captain of the ship at Smugglers Cove, who used to be the very model of a modern major general, is now the smuggler who will have a prize for you if you go see him at Smugglers’Cove—-Main Avenue. And don’t let him shiver your timbers. —Paul
