1. On Tuesday, July 31, the contractor will proceed with the Broadway drainage project, working specifically on the drainage pipe at Central and Broadway. This work was delayed when an old gas line, unmarked on Township maps, was discovered to be in the way beneath the curb line of Central Avenue. Leanne Hoffman, the Township’s director of engineering and planning, said it took two weeks for a gas company crew to come out and relocated that line. Now that it’s out of the way, the contractor can continue work.
2. A reminder that free organ recitals will continue at the Great Auditorium from now through the end of August. These short concerts — mostly by the Camp Meeting’s resident organist Gordon Turk — are one of Ocean Grove’s quintessential summertime delights. They next ones are this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and this Saturday at noon. Just stroll over to the auditorium and enjoy the sounds of the largest working organ in New Jersey, with more than 10,000 pipes. After the recital, it’s a short walk down the street for ice cream.
