The fall 2012 meeting of the Historical Society of Ocean Grove will be held on Monday, September 24, in the Community Room on Pilgrim Pathway, at 7 p.m.  Dave Shotwell, Sr. will discuss “Lifeguarding in Ocean Grove.”

   I can’t attend the meeting on Monday night, but wanted to mention here that the lifeguards do a great job – the general public doesn’t hear about the many saves these lifeguards make almost daily. I was on the beach after the season closed, and an off-duty guard made an awesome save on a very rough day. That lucky man said this guard was his angel, he would not have made it out without him!

   That off duty guard was OG resident Jack Arpert . This young man deserves a commendation! What a hero….
