A Patriotic Look Into the Future. By Ocean Grover Steven Froias

Above is a historic photograph of the building most Grovers know as The Aurora, a former hotel. Today, below, it is a private residence that has been getting some attention for the awe-inspiring American flags draped on either side.

On this Fourth of July, looking at the old and new photos, I couldn’t help but think that together they serve as metaphor for the country itself. What was once a simple stick-style building is now a beautiful, carefully renovated and most likely better structure in spite of the years and storms and sunshine it has weathered throughout its many years.

We’ve come a long way from the simpler days of the past but still manage to wear our pride and patriotism for all the world to see and must never forget…whatever the challenge, the future will always look brighter for the United States of America. Happy Fourth of July! – Steven Froias
