Dora (L) and Caitlin pose for an OG portrait. Blogfinger photo
We’ve been having fun @ Blogfinger reporting on wildlife in the Grove. We have had deer, raccoons, hawks and other birds, and a muskrat. But now we have discovered another creature in town.
We met Caitlin Sprague today as she walked down Mt. Hermon Way towards Firemen’s Park. Cradled in her arms was a furry ball. We went over and discovered that Caitlin was carrying her pet hedgehog named Dora. Dora is three years old, and Caitlin has had her for two years. Caitlin says that it is legal in New Jersey and that she got it from Craig’s List.
Caitlin is from Milwaukee and is a graduate student in international social work who lives in Ocean Grove. She “always wanted a hedgehog.” She tells us that Dora is naturally a nocturnal creature who has poor daylight vision. Caitlin can let her loose in the park, but she tends to find a dark place to curl up in. Dora eats cat food, and her best and only friend is Caitlin.

This is very disturbing. The introduction of invasive species to our continent has been universally disastrous.
Disturbing indeed. It sounds like Dora might eat some of our cat food! Remember that humans are an invasive species to our continent.
I agree….it would be disastrous if Dora were to invade Mimi’s California Natural’s dry food. However, she’s welcome to partake in the chicken-flavored wet food.
