And speaking of flowers, we had a plant sale in OG on Saturday morning.

Big selection at the Ladies’ Auxiliary Plant Sale

By Paul Goldfinger, MD, editor @Blogfinger

Today was the annual plant sale sponsored by the OG Ladies Auxiliary. According to Joan Knust and Sally Piccillo, the co-chairs for this event, they have a wide variety of flowers, cuttings, bedding plants and ground covers. The ladies in red formed a circle at the Auditorium Pavilion, sort of like Custer, and sold the merchandise to the customers on the outside.

Eileen fills up her wagon.

If they don’t sell out, they will reconvene on Sunday at 1 p.m. with bargain prices.  I tagged  along as Eileen pulled her little red wagon over to the sale. My job was to watch the wagon so that none of OG’s famed stealthy vagabonds run off with it.

While we were there, we noticed a shopper who looked familiar. It turns out that she is none other than Monica Ziglar, the star soprano of the Ocean Grove “Songs on a summer afternoon” series. She also sings with the OG Choir.

We asked Monica it there would be a very special performance this season that she was particularly excited about, and she said that Dvorak’s Stabat Mater would be performed on August 26, 2012 in the Great Auditorium with a full orchestra and choir.

If you love choral music, here is a sampling of Stabat Mater by Dvorak. Mariana Zvetkova:
