On Friday, Neptune Police charged an Asbury Park man in the burglary of the Bake Shoppe on Main Avenue. The man was identified as Edwin Tirado, age 37.
Police said in a press release that on Monday, November 21, Tirado entered the bakery by breaking the glass front door and, once inside, stole a small amount of cash. “Tirado was linked to the crimes through physical evidence and statements to the police,” the press release said.
He is being held in Monmouth County Jail on $50,000 bail, charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. His last known address was on Fifth Avenue in Asbury. The charges were brought by Neptune Police Detective Jason Petillo.
Also, in an email to Ocean Grove’s Neighborhood Watch coordinators, police said Friday that the investigation is continuing into the burglary of another Ocean Grove bakery, Devil’s Food, at 69 Main Avenue. Someone stole cash from that establishment on November 17 or thereabouts. The thief is said to have gained entry through an unlocked window.
So sad to read this, yet very happy to hear a quick catch on the part of the local police!
HUGE congratulations to the Police!!! Please keep it up and do something about all the petty theft.
